Honda Accord and CR-Vs Recalled

by Brad Leach - 15/02/10

Honda Australia has expanded its current recall for faulty driver’s airbag inflators to include a further 703 vehicles..

In Australia, the recall is for Accord models produced in 2001 and 2002 as well as 2002 CR-Vs.

Globally, more than 514,000 Honda vehicles are being recalled.

The problem is the compressed inflator propellant used to inflate the in a crash. Honda says there is a possibility of an abrupt increase in inflation pressure which can cause the bag to rupture.

Originally the problem stemmed from excessive moisture intake by the inflator, however further research by Honda engineers identified a fault in one machine used to manufacture the airbags and this resulted in the expanded numbers of vehicles being recalled.

So if you own a 2001 or 2002 Honda Accord or a 2002 CR-V, it is best to contact your Honda dealer for specialist advice.
