Toyota Prius C Fuel Economy Figures

by Brad Leach - 19/01/12

Toyota says its upcoming new Prius hybrid variant – the Prius c – will deliver the best city fuel consumption of any non-electric vehicle.

“ We expect Prius c will be the fuel economy champion in city traffic for vehicles that do not require a power socket for charging,” explained Toyota’s sales and marketing director Matthew Callachor. “In the city, where Prius c is more than likely to spend most of its life, we expect it to be rated at 3.7l/100kms.”

The regular Prius records 3.9l/100kms in the city and, based on 3.7l/100kms, Toyota reckons the Prius c will use around 12 per cent less fuel in the city that the most fuel-efficient diesels on the market.

Toyota will launch Prius c and Prius v within months – joining the existing Prius model to form a three-variant lineup.

As a city car, Prius c is smaller and lighter than the existing Prius hatchback and Toyita has re-engineered it Hybrid Synergy Drive system to suit the newcomer – smaller, lighter and more efficient.

“Prius c will introduce Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive technology – the world’s most proven hybrid technology – to buyers who are looking for a smart, fun and affordable city car,” Mr Callachor said.
