Citroen DS4 Starting at $35,990

by Brad Leach - 21/02/12

Citroen has expanded its model range with the addition of the good-looking, all-new DS4 ‘crossover’. In the ‘crossover segment, the Citroen DS4 (starting price $35,990), leans more towards the Nissan Dualis (starting price $29,990) – they’re ‘tall body’ hatchbacks rather than quasi-4WDs.

The all-new Citroen DS4 replaces the previous DS3 but takes Citroen into a new market segment. It’s a good-looker and, measuring 4.27 metres in length, 1.81 metres in wiodth and standing 1.53 metres tall, is actually one of the larger of these new-breed European ‘crossovers’.

Power comes from 115kW or 147kW petrol engines or an 82kW diesel.

Inside there’s room for five and lots of the practical inclusions demanded by buyers in this segment.

Citroen has launched the DS4 in two model grades – DSport and DStyle.

The range-topping DSport is exclusively powered by the 147kW turbocharged petrol engine driving through a six-speed manual transmission and is stickered at $39,990. DStyle models are only available with the EGS automatic transmission and retail for $35,990 (115kW turbocharged petrol engine) or $36,990 (turbo-diesel).

“The Citroen DS4 has the exclusivity and style of a coupe, but its tall body and rear doors provide a level of convenience and versatility that no three door coupe is able to offer, while its position as one of Citroen’s premium DS models means that it is not (a) better equipped version of a lesser car, but a model in its own right, enabling it to offer exclusivity and prestige that up market variants of mainstream models are unable to match,” explained Citroen Australia boss Miles Williams.

The full range is:
DS4 DStyle petrol automatic $35,990
DS4 DStyle diesel automatic $36,990
DS4 DSport petrol manual $39,990
