MINI has responded to rampant consumer interest in the JCW GP Edition model – the fastest MINI so far – by securing an additional 25 cars.
Priced at $56,900 and arriving on our shores early next year, MINI says the JCW GP Edition is a “track-ready race car homologated for everyday driving”. Various state road departments might have an issue with that definition…but the bottom line is 55 MINI JCW GP Editions are now coming to Australia and most already have customer names alongside them.
Possibly a future collectors’ item due to the limited production run (2,000 cars) the MINI JCW GPO Edition is available in just one specification – exclusive ‘Thunder Grey’ metallic paintwork, advance aerodynamic kit with underbody paneling and carbon rear wing and twin Recaro sports seats inside with a padded knee roll to help driver and passenger brace during high-speed cornering.
Power comes from MINI’s top-spec turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine with 160kW on-tap. Underneath is a race-tuned suspension and brakes package.
