Suzuki again highlights it’s technical strength with the SX4 compact sedan and hatch – available as a front-wheeldrive or all-wheel-drive.
The company says the SX4’s European sports design was inspired by its World Rally Championship cars – that may be stretching the boundary just a little.
Priced from a sharp $19,990, the SX4 is nevertheless a pleasant, modern design and the two-variant range is clearly value-for-money.
SX4’s all-wheel-drive version is not for conquering Cape York but it does deliver a degree of versatility and is sure-footed on wet roads.
With 107kW of power at 5,800 rpm and peak torque of 184Nm at 3,500 rpm, the 2.0-litre multi-valve engine isn’t going to win the Bathurst 1000 but is a handy unit with flexibility for every-day convenience.
The contemporary high-roof layout does provide a feeling of space and natural light inside the SX4’s pleasant interior.
Clearly the SX4 provides a competent alternative to than rank and file Japanese hatchbacks/sedans so it’s worth looking at.
