Audi has grown the range of R8 Spyder variants with the addition of 4.2-litre V8 models priced at $300,400 (six-speed manual) and $316,400 (R-Tronic).
The new stable mate of the Audi R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI is a 90-degree V8, red-lined at an incredible 8250rpm, delivering 316kW/430Nm and zero to 100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. Yep, that’s a supercar by any measure.
In terms of specifications, the Audi R8 Spyder 4.2 mirrors the equivalent hard-top version. That includes an Alcantera leather interior, metallic paint, Xenon headlights with LED DRLs, Audi parking system advance with rear-view camera, Audi magnetic ride and 19-inch five twin-spoke alloy wheels.
The incredible Audi R8 Spyder (a mid-engined pure sports car boasts a bodyshell weighing just 216kgs. Carbon fibre composite is used for the side panels and roof cover – a weight saving of around 60 per cent compared to equivalent steel panels.
