Looking at that, “safe” doesn’t come immediately to mind.
2018 sees the fourth consecutive year of sponsorship and support from Mercedes-Benz Australia towards the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12-Hour Race, with this year’s safety car taking the form of a Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+ decked out in the requisite livery and looking absolutely menacing.
The E63 S, for the uninitiated, is equipped with a 4.0-litre biturbo V8, producing 450kW of power and 850Nm of twist, enough to keep the high-powered contenders at Bathurst well under control. The century sprint is demolished in just 3.4-seconds, while top speed is limited electronically to 300km/h.
And in case that isn’t enough, Mercedes-Benz Australia has supplied additional firepower in the form of two Mercedes-AMG C43 4Matic saloons as support cars, that will do duty as Course Cars through the event.
“It is fantastic to once again be working with Mercedes-Benz. They have an outstanding presence both on and off the track, that I know our fans really enjoy. We value our partnership with Mercedes-Benz enormously, and thank them for their ongoing support.” — John Casey, Event Director, Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12-Hour
Selected Mercedes-AMG customers will be joining in the fun at Mount Panorama, with Mercedes-Benz offering opportunities for them to pilot a fleet of performance-focused Mercedes-AMG cars through “an exciting series of exercises under the tutelage of professional racing instructors,” before they’re let loose to do laps of the fabled 6.2-kilometre circuit.
The Bathurst 12-Hour endurance race will be taking place from February 2nd to 4th this year.
