Powered by a twin-turbocharged, 3.0-litre six cylinder engine delivering 250kW/450Nm (500Nm on overboost), the 1 Series M ‘pocket rocket’ drives through a specially-developed, light-weight (49kgs) six-speed manual transmission and variable M differential lock, accelerates from zero to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds, but returns combined cycle fuel consumption of 9.6l/100kms.

Underneath are 19-inch alloy wheels, M-spec brakes and a race-tuned suspension developed during testing at the Nurburgring – the double-joint rear axle and five-link rear end are made mostly of aluminium.

Looks are superb – the BMW 1 Series M Coupe is wider and lower than other 1 Series models with racy flared wheel arches, M side vents and quad exhausts.

The BMW 1 Series M Coupe is available in a unique exterior colour called Valencia Orange as well as Alpine White and Sapphire Black.
