Ford Australia are now giving the upgrade option to owners of the 2016 or 2017 Mustang by way of officially developed parts by Ford Performance, meaning that buyers can be assured of their compatibility and of the safety of their cars.
The packs themselves will be available through local Ford dealerships throughout the country and consist of a new Ford Performance exhaust system for the GT with 4.0-inch tips finished in either chrome or black, letting the 5.0-litre Coyote V8 breathe a little easier while enhancing the aggressiveness of its growl.
Secondly, a Handling Pack (FR3-M8) is now available which includes the fitment of sway bars, shock absorbers, and lowered springs with geometry tuned by the automaker’s performance division. A second, more focused Track Pack FR3-M9 is also available, giving the GT lowering coil springs, assembled front struts, upper front struts, rear shocks, sway bars, rear toe links, and toe-to-knuckle bearings.
There are also colour-matching (blue or black) coil-over covers for the GT’s V8 motor and a short-throw shifter for Mustangs fitted with a manual transmission.
These upgrades, if purchased along with a new Mustang, will match the full three-year 100,000km new-vehicle warranty while existing owners enjoy a 12-month 20,000km warranty on these factory-approved upgrade parts.

“This is the first time in Mustang’s five-decade history that an Australian consumer can take delivery of this iconic performance car with a full suite of upgrades straight off the showroom floor,” he added. “Even better, the benefit of these upgrades not only gives new Mustang buyers a chance to customise their own vehicle, but also extends to existing owners, who can have their local dealer fit any or all of these components to their own taste and desires.”
