Want a real-world demonstration of hybrid motoring benefits? Honda has delivered with a stock-standard Insight completing one lap of Tasmania consuming just 39.6-litres of fuel.
That’s 821kms for a cost under $60.
The good-looking Insight carried a driver (Honda dealer and racing driver Greg Crick), plus a passenger and their luggage, but still averaged 4.82l/100kms.
To provide credibility for the trip, Honda engaged the Royal Automobile Club of Tasmania to seal the Insight’s fuel tank after it was filled prior to departure and the RACT’s Michael Elliott traveled with the team.
Unlike some rather artificial fuel economy runs, this trip by the Honda Insight is real-world, particularly when you recall the challenging roads along Tasmania’s West Coast and the mountain areas around Mount Arrowsmith and Queenstown.
