Because it’s the ‘place to be,’ as it were. Ugh.
Hyundai has a history with its names, with all of its cars named after a location somewhere in the world. Its SUVs especially get interesting names, like Kona, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade, all of which are beautiful locations that, with an SUV, you can truly explore to its fullest and drink in.
But for its new compact crossover which will sit below the Kona, they’ve decided that it’ll be so hip and fashionable that rather than name it after a place, they think it’ll be a place. The place, in fact. Which is why they’ve dubbed it ‘Venue.’
Hyundai says of the ‘Venue’ name that the new car will be a place you want to be seen. It’s supposed to give off a vibe of something trendy, uniquely-styled, and perfectly-suited for the hip urbanites that this car unashamedly targets, some of whom Hyundai captured in the above photograph which they sent out to motoring hacks across the globe.
One of the major factors that influence buyers of small SUVs is style and to that end, Hyundai has teased… its badge on the tailgate. Nothing else but that was given, so we don’t know what power plant it’ll use, what kind of driveline to expect, nothing. Oh, but we can invite you to join in on the live reveal, which will take place at 9.45pm local-time on April 17th.
