It’s the 50th anniversary for Lamborghini and the German-owned Italian sports car brand really know how to celebrate – check-out the Veneno Roadster.
Just nine of the open-top racing (but street legal) prototypes are slated for production and they’ll carry a sticker price of $4.69 million (€3.3 million).
Behind the cockpit sits a 6.5-litre V12 engine with 552kW on-tap and driving all four wheels (Lamborghini is controlled by Audi don’t forget) via a quick-shifting ISR transmission with five drive modes.
Weighing just 1,490kgs, the Lamborghini Veneno can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 2.9 seconds and has a top speed of 355km/h.
The razor sharp lines are distinctly Lamborghini but aerodynamics were the key – note the massive rear wing and channeled rear fenders. Underneath is a full-length aero panel and diffuser sculptured to accommodate the four massive tailpipes.
Bodywork is painted in ‘Rosso Veneno’ – a colour developed exclusively for this car, although buyers can opt for a colour of their choice.
