Taking advantage of the reduction in import tariff, Lexus has reduced prices of the upgraded 2010 LS600hL models.
The four-set model is priced at $243,900 while the five-seat version is now $250,900.
Among the changes are new front seats with inflator-operated headrests (activated by the airbag ECU in a rear-end impact) and extra bolstering to provide more support for outboard rear seat occupants.
Reductions in size for the rear air conditioning unit and hybrid battery compartment (now in two sections comprising six and 14 modules) provide an extra 40-litres of boot space.
Other changes inside include a new slim-line rear DVD screen centrally mounted in the roof and a USB connection for the 19-speaker mark levinson Premium Surround Sound System.
In addition, the redesigned dashboard provides a new LCD display and improved navigation functionality.
The LS 600hL is a full hybrid and changes to the Lexus Hybrid Drive system have introduced a new ECO mode which provides greater efficiency by managing throttle response and air conditioning performance. For example, when the outside air temperature exceeds 20 degrees, the system automatically switches to recirculation mode to reduce power consumption.
Combined, the 5.0-litre V8 petrol engine and 165kW electric motor produce a maximum of 327kW. The Lexus range topper accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.
Externally, the 2010 LS600hL gains a new four-bar grille, a new front bumper with redesigned air intakes and fog lights plus new headlights finished in Lexus/Toyota’s trademark hybrid blue tinge.
There is also a redesigned rear bumper, new side mirrors with twin LED turn signals and extra chrome highlights.
