Retina-searing, or delightful? You decide.

2019 Lexus LC500 Special Edition

Japanese luxury carmaker Lexus have announced through their local office that they will be making available a new, special-edition version of its flagship LC Coupé, which hasn’t officially been given a name but features a brand-new, exclusive hue. This Zinnia Yellow, as it’s called (and notably different from the ‘Flare Yellow’ of the LC Yellow Edition), is exclusive to the special model, and also warrants some equally-yellow changes inside.

“The exquisite quality of the vibrant Zinnia Yellow paint finish shows off the LC’s award-winning styling to stunning effect. Inside the hand-crafted cabin, warm yellow inserts and detail sticking exemplify the Takumi craftsmanship that is a distinguishing feature of Lexus luxury. Drivers of these exclusive new models will also be treated to the full potential of the LC’s rigid platform with its excellent balance & low centre of gravity.” — Scott Thompson, Chief Executive Officer, Lexus Australia

The LC Limited Edition is actually the same as the regular LC, so it’s just the aesthetic upgrades abound. The exterior Zinnia Yellow is offset by things like the 21-inch alloy wheels, and that’s the end of the exterior changes. The interior has more changes, including yellow Mikado Alcantara door inserts, and yellow contrast stitching against white semi-aniline leather-accented seats, instrument panel, steering wheel, and centre console armrest.

This is of course in addition to the standard kit like Alcantara headlining, 13-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, carbon-fibre roof, 12-way electrically-adjustable sports front seats, and branded carbon-fibre scuff plates. There are also things like the Lexus Safety System+, which Lexus describes as “a collection of active safety features that can help the driver avoid an accident, or help lessen the consequences of a collision.” Basically that means you have AEB with pedestrian warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and automatic high beam, among others.

There are no changes under the bonnet though, so you can have your LC Limited Edition as either an LC500 with a naturally-aspirated 5.0-litre V8 (351kW/540Nm) or as an LC500h with a 3.5-litre atmo-V6 mated to an electric motor & batteries (264kW/348Nm). And the price for that beautiful yellow hue? Just $200 more than the regular car with the Enhancement Pack (usually a $15k option) added on, so that would be $205,200 for either the V8 or V6 Hybrid.
