Informed guessing says, yes.
McLaren, the British supercar specialist marque, have released a teaser image of what they’re saying is a new Longtail model. The fifth such Longtail in the company’s history, the new model is set to add more excitement and exhilaration to the LT range. It’ll join the 675LT Coupé & Spider, and the 600LT Coupé. Notice a gap there?
“Developed to meet the exacting McLaren LT philosophy of increased power, reduced weight, optimised aerodynamics, track-focused dynamics and limited availability, the new model will further broaden the level of choice for McLaren customers – although with a production run of just 12 months, buyers will need to move quickly.” – McLaren Automotive
The Woking-based company has confirmed that the new car will debut on January 19th, but promise further details & photos on the 16th (which you can bet we will carry). That said, a closer look at the teaser image (with its big wing and top-exit exhausts) reveal what appears to be a shut-line across the rear decklid – obvious evidence of a cabriolet.
As it’ll likely be the 600LT Spider, we can expect to see a weight increase of under 50kg, and shared mechanicals with the 600LT Coupé. So under that decklid, you should find a 3.8-litre biturbo V8, offering 441kW and 620Nm. That should be able to hit 100km/h in about 3-seconds, and head towards a top-speed north of 320km/h.
