The C-Class has stayed largely unaltered since the fourth-generation W205 arrived in 2015 to local and international praise, but that’s now changing midway through 2017 with some minor improvements to the range.

Mercedes-Benz is tweaking naming structure, first of all, will be changing as the petrol-powered C 250 will be replaced by the C 300 for both sedan and estate models, which will see a boost in power output from the turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder by 25kW and 20Nm to 180kW and 370Nm over the outgoing model.

In parallel, the C 200 d will be succeeded by the C 220 d (also in sedan and estate variations), which feature a larger and more powerful engine. A 2.1-litre four-pot turbodiesel replaces the 1.6-litre unit in the older car, generating 125kW and 400Nm that’s allied to a nine-speed automatic transmission - an increase of 25kW and 80Nm.

Lastly, the local C-Class range will be receiving a new trim line, plucked from its warm reception on the newly introduced W213 E-Class is the Exclusive Line package. It’s available as a no-cost option for the sedan and estate variants of the four-pot-powered C-Class sedan and estate (excluding the C 350 e).

The ‘Exclusive’ treatment effects both the exterior and interior, adding 18-inch 5-spoke alloys, a Mercedes-Benz star on the bonnet, AIRPANEL radiator grille with adaptive closing function (C 200 and C 220d), Agility Control suspension, and Exclusive ARTICO or leather upholstery.
