It wouldn’t be an international motor show without another derivative from Mini – this time Detroit in January will see the premiere of the latest John Cooper Works Concept.
Said to be a pointer to the next generation of sporty models from Mini, the John Cooper Works Concept runs an exclusive paint colour called ‘Bright Highways Grey’ with red highlights for the roof, rear spoiler and mirror caps, unique aero modifications and new-design 18-inch alloy wheels.
Based on the new generation Mini (longer wheelbase, wider track), as well as the aero work, the John Cooper Works Concept is lighter than regular models – a hint to its motorsport intent.
The front sees a black surround for the grille and LED headlights plus the start of the aero changes – large air intakes replace the fog lights and there are air-channeling elements. There are also side skirts and a rear apron with flaps and twin exhaust tailpipes and a diffuser, a roof spoiler and side shapes to direct air around the C-pillars.
Mini says further development of the John Cooper Works Concept is already underway so expect a production version soon.
