Renault is one of the world’s leading automotive companies and this year its handy Clio model celebrates both 20 years of production and 10 million sales.
Throughout the various model generations, ‘Hot Hatch’ versions of the Renault Clio have garnered media attention and international awards so - not surprisingly - the 20th Anniversary Limited Edition Clio is a hot hatch. In fact it’s based on one of Car Showroom’s favourites - the Clio Renault Sport Cup Trophee model.
Renault Australia has secured just 30 of these individually numbered commemorative Clios and they are scheduled for local sale in July, priced at $39,990.
The regular Clio Renault Sport Clio Cup Trophee model is a ‘Pocket Rocket’ with its motorsport-derived Clio Cup chassis (sports-tuned ESP, Brembo brakes etc), 145kW 2.0-litre engine, close ratio six-speed transmission, Renault Sport Recaro front seats etc.
On top of all that, the 20th Anniversary Limited Edition models score exclusive two-tone paint (Ice White with Deep Black for the roof, spoiler and top of the rear hatch), 17-inch black Speedline alloy wheels, twin chrome exhaust outlets and gloss anthracite for the F1-derived aerodynamic front spoiler and door mirrors.
And to really give the 20th Anniversary celebrations a rush, every buyer of a new Clio Renault Sport 200 model between 25 June and 31 August will go into a draw to spend a day at a racetrack in the company of legendary race driver Jim Richards – and that will certainly see the high performance Renault operating at its limits.
