The Monte Carlo badge is back for Skoda – this time in the form of a new addition to the updated Rapid hatchback range.
Across the range, specs are up, the turbocharged 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines gain extra power as part of their compliance with Euro6 regulations and some prices are down (the entry-grade Rapid 81TSI by $1,000).
Priced at $25,790 and powered by the 92TSI engine driving through the DSG auto, the Monte Carlo is the new range-topper of the Skoda Rapid (replacing the Rapid Elegance 90TSI).
The Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo carries all of the specification of the previous ‘Elegance’ model but adds extras such as black 17-inch alloy wheels, panoramic glass sunroof and xenon headlights.
Styling sees some sporty black highlights outside while inside the Monte Carlo adds some carbon-fibre style highlights and can be optioned with a satellite navigation system with a 6.5-inch touchscreen.
The updated Skoda Rapid lineup looks like this:
| 81TSI manual | $17,990 |
| 92TSI auto | $20,990 |
| Monte Carlo 81TSI manual | $22,990 |
| Monte Carlo 92TSI auto | $25,790 |
