Toyota’s all-new Aqua compact hybrid hatchback made its global debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The Toyota Aqua shares the same 1.5-litre petrol hybrid drivetrain as the Prius but is shorter, narrower and smaller. Toyota says the Aqua is a lower-priced vehicle which will bring the benefits of hybrid motoring to a wider number of customers.
Styling is impressive – modern and perhaps more mainstream whereas the Prius can be a little too ‘cutting-edge’ for some.
The Toyota Aqua goes on-sale in Japan late this month and is scheduled for global rollout next year.
