Toyota has launched a freshened Tarago people mover lineup and the good news is price for the entry-level GLi model has been cut to $48,990. That’s $3,500 - or 6.0 per-cent - less and is actually identical to 2006 prices.

Other model-specific price reductions range from $1,300 to $2,300, while the V6 GLX has gained extra specifications and goes up by $1,390.

Under the bonnet, 2.4-litre four cylinder model Toyota Taragos have switched to a new continuously variable automatic transmission (which can be used as either a full auto or seven-speed sequential-shift). The new auto has wrought a significant six per-cent reduction in fuel consumption – the 2.4-litre now down to 8.9l/100kms (combined cycle).

Inside there are new seat fabrics, new colours and new trim highlights, plus all models now run Toyota’s Optitron instruments (previously only fitted to range-topping Ultima versions).
