Volkswagen Golf Gets A Wagon
Golf buyers will soon find its easier to play…well golf, actually with the wagon - or Estate - version of Volkswagen's venerable hatchback coming 'Downunder'.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show, Volkswagen displayed several versions of the Estate, although the most stylish example - the elegant Estate Exclusive - probably won't make it here.
Featuring the stylish good looks of the latest sixth-generation Golf, the Estate version will be handy addition to Volkswagen's product lineup. It will be pitched against other European hatchbacks such as the Ford Mondeo and Renault Laguna…and even Volkswagen's other brands Audi and Skoda have wagons.
Back home in Germany, the Golf Estate is sold with a multitude of petrol and diesel engines, manual and DSG transmissions. We expect Volkswagen Australia will bring the Estate to local dealers with a choice of 2.0-litre engine - petrol or diesel.
And while Volkswagen has not revealed local pricing, expect a starting point around the Mondeo.
