Having just taken delivery of a 2015 V40 top of the line Cross Country with the new 4 cylinder turbo petrol engine and every gismo included, I cannot fault the car. The same BMW with the level of equipment would cost another $10,000.00.
The V40 is ideal in size, capable of carrying 4 adults or mum and 4 kids. It looks supurb and is easy to drive. It is smooth with great petrol economy despite it blistering powerful engine.
It has fabulous safety features and is built like a tank.
I couldn't be more pleased with the driving experience. It is the ideal city vehicle because of its size and can handle long distance travelling with ease. I travel to South Gippsland once a week and its an absolute pleasure to drive, listening to one of the best sound systems I have ever experienced in a car.
Volvo has come a long way in the last 10 years so do yourself a favour, consider a V40 if you want an ideal city/country tourer without the bulk.
Great all-round performer with the right price tag to boot!

I've owned 4 BMWs (323i, 318is, 523, 530i E39) and a Porsche 911 996 model. So, I like my cars and enjoy driving them! I never, ever thought I'd be writing a positive review on a Volvo! I hired a Volvo S60 T5 in Los Angeles and drove it and fell in love with it. LA traffic is a disaster and I got stuck on the 101 for over an hour in a carpark with 119F (49C) and the aircon worked a treat. Overall, its a great city car, fuel efficient and a good looker. I especially loved the interior and driver orientation/ergonomics of the dials towards the driver (like the way BMW used to make 5 series E39s). For the sticker price I think the Volvo s60 is a bargain and will really steal some potential BMW3 buyers market away from that brand. The interior fit of the Volvo is up to Audi standards and the seats are especially fantastic. We were in the car a whole day in stinking heat and ended the day feeling we were well cared for by our Volvo T5 - which is exactly how you should feel after a hot and challenging driving day. Petrol consumption was good too and the thing has quite a bit of poke for a turbo 5 potter....all you really need in a city car driving package. Give one a go, perhaps even hire one for a few days as I did to really get to know what this car can do. I'm confident in suggesting that you'll be pleasantly surprised and may even put one on your shopping list for your next daily driver. Finally, it has good safety features/airbags a plenty. A quality feel at an affordable price.
