Initial shipments of the latest Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG sedan and wagon – possibly the world’s best high performance four-doors – are now arriving in Australia.
And there’s good news on prices with the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG sedan priced the same as the outgoing model at $240,985 and the wagon stickered at $244,500. The optional AMG Performance Package adds $17,900 to the price of the sedan or $16,900 to the Estate.
Of course the big news is under the bonnet with the latest Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG employing the M157 bi-turbo V8 petrol engine. In standard form this technological masterpiece delivers 386kW/700Nm, but opt for the ‘Performance Pack’ and these figures grow impressively to 410Kw/800Nm – and that means ‘Supercar’ in anyone’s book.
But – just as impressively – with meticulous attention to detail and technology like Auto Start-Stop, the all-new bi-turbo V8 E63 AMG is 21 per cent more fuel efficient than its naturally-aspirated predecessor – now rated as low as 10.0l/100kms for the combined cycle.
That reduced fuel consumption is helped by the new AMG Speedshift MCT seven-speed automatic transmission.
There’s also new AMG Ride Control suspension and electromechanical speed-sensitive steering with a more direct 14:1 ratio.
And of course you get all the expected ‘Benz-AMG’ luxury, technology and style, including new, standard 19-inch alloy wheels.
File this one under ‘D’ for desirable.
