Already offered in diesel-powered C-Class models, from this month Mercedes- Benz has introduced the fuel-saving auto Start/Stop technology to the petrol-engined C200 BlueEFFICIENCY and C250 BlueEFFICIENCY sedans and wagons.
Introduction of Start/Stop technology to the C-Class range drops the combined cycle fuel consumption below 7.0l/100kms, proving an exemption in the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) and savings to new car buyers up to $2,300.
In announcing its strategy to pass-on the LCT savings to customers, Mercedes-Benz said: “Our position on the Luxury Car Tax (LCT) is well known; we do not believe or accept that any vehicle purchaser should pay LCT as it is a tax on technology and safety. No other so called luxury purchase is subject to such a regressive, discriminatory and inequitable tax. We have taken the opportunity to pass on to our customers the benefits of technology in the elimination of any LCT on these models where the MRLP (Manufacturers Recommended List Price) is under $75,375 due to their fuel consumption rating.”
New prices for the Mercedes-Benz C200 and C250 range are:
C200 BlueEFFICIENCY sedan $58,600
C250 BlueEFFICIENCY sedan $65,600
C200 BlueEFFICIENCY estate $60,600
C250 BlueEFFICIENCY estate $67,600
