Mercedes-Benz has been given CarShowroom.com.au a sneak peak at the upcoming fifth generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class that will be launched on 23rd August, 2014. Mercedes-Benz has announced pricing and given a brief overview of specifications and model line-ups.
The full Australian line-up for the C-Class will be:
C 200 from $60,900
C 200 Bluetec from $62,400
C 250 from $68,900
C 250 Bluetec from $70,400
C 300 Bluetec Hybrid from $74,900
*plus on-road and dealer costs.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is now larger, wider, lower and is 40 kilograms lighter thanks to the use of aluminium in the body shell.
Horst von Sanden, CEO Mercedes-Benz Australia/Pacific and Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars told Carshowroom.com.au "The outgoing C-Class was and is the number one selling luxury car in Australia and we’re confident the all-new C-Class will continue on the same path when it launches in August.”
Mercedes-Benz claim that the new C-Class will be the best sedan they have ever offered and the level of standard equipment on the entry level C200 (petrol) and C200 BlueTEC (diesel) supports that claim. LED headlamps, 18” alloy wheels, Collision Prevention Assist PLUS, electric seats and blind spot assist, Garmin MAP PILOT Satellite Navigation, ambient interior lighting throughout the cabin (3 different colour modes), DAB + digital radio, power operated park brake, keyless start function, Active Parking Assist and Agility Select with five driving modes plus many more.
Steeping up to the C 250 (petrol) and C 250 BlueTEC (diesel) buyers can expect the addition of 19" alloys, Driver Assistance Package PLUS package (as seen the S-Class), KEYLESS-GO with hands-free access, leather upholstery and Steer Assist which helps keep you in your lane.
Leading the charge for the luxury environmental conscious buyer is the C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID which comes with the same hybrid system used in the current generation E-Class and S-Class. The C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID will have combined fuel economy at an estimated 3.6L/100km and will come with the same equipment levels as the C250 models.
For those buyers who like to customise their cars Mercedes-Benz will offer three different option packages for the C-Class. The Vision packages highlights include a full panoramic sunroof, intelligent light system with LED’s and a Head Up Display and will be priced at $4,990. The second package is the Command package which includes upgraded sat-nav and a 13 speaker surround sound system for $2,990. The final package is the AMG Line which will add 19” AMG Alloy wheels, AMG body styling, lowered sports suspension and sports seats priced from $3,490 on C250 and above and $4,490 for C200 models.
All of the models will be available as a wagon at a $2,500 premium, expect for the C 300 Bluetec Hybrid as Mercedes-Benz feels there currently isn’t a market in Australia for this model. Thos looking for the more powerful V6 and AMG performance models will need to wait until at least the middle of next year.
