Australia’s most popular compact luxury saloon just got sharper.
Mercedes-Benz’s compact luxury saloon, the C-Class, already enjoys the distinction of being Australia’s most popular choice in the segment. However, they’re looking to add to that success by offering an ‘Edition C’ package that adds a host of kit to a standard C200, and then chops a good $1000 off the price.
That’s right. Option for an ‘Edition C’ car will add things like an electric sunroof, smartphone mirroring for Android and Apple devices, metallic paint (but not of the Designo variety), and 19-inch alloy wheels, and cost you just $60,900 drive-away (for the time being), which represents a $1000 saving over the standard C200 saloon (which goes for $61,900).
Motivation for the Edition C remains the same though, so you’ll find a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol mill putting out 135kW and 300Nm, with power sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox. What’s also unchanged are the standard equipment, which includes things like Artico faux-leather, a 7.0-inch COMAND infotainment screen with satellite navigation, electric adjustment for the front seats, dual-zone CLIMATRONIC climate control, automatic wipers, LED headlights, and cabin trim in either piano black or brushed aluminium depending on placement.
The Mercedes-Benz C-Class Edition C is on sale from now until the 31st of May, with the drive-away price valid while stocks last. You can read our review of the C-Class range here too, if you want to figure out just why we think its position as the most popular car in its class is entirely justified.
